Tubes for Gabi's Ears....

Gabi had a follow up appointment yesterday from an ear infection she had 3 weeks ago. Her hearing test was inconclusive because of either fluid in her ears or a large amount of earwax buildup and dried blood from when the nurse practioner at her pediatricians office decided to dig at her ears so hard that they both started bleeding. The ENT Dr wasnt very happy about that, and niether was I! The Dr. thought it would be best to clean her ears under anethesia and poke a small hole in her ear drum to make sure there was no fluid, if there was fluid he would put the tubes in her ears.

So early this morning were went in for surgery... Gabi was so happy considering she woke up 3 hours earlier than normal, and had no food since the night before! She looks so stinkin cute in that mini hospital gown!

She was even good about having her blood pressure checked, taking her pain medication before surgery, and checking all her vitals.

They have pretty fun toys to play with at the hospital... who knew that a blood pressure cuff could be so much fun!

Gabi was freezing cold and started to get really sleepy before surgery so she laid back and relaxed until the nurses were ready for her in the O.R.

Right before she left for surgery i picked her up and ask her for a kiss... She puckered up those big juicy lips and laid on right on mine... I told her to give one to daddy too so she leaned over to him and gave him one too! I teared up immediatly! It was the cutest thing ever! All the nurses melted and couldnt stop talking about how cute it was!

When Gabi came back from the O.R. she was not happy... which is pretty common when kids come out of anethesia. She was so out of it and kept trying to sit up but was all dizzy and floppy so she couldnt. It was so sad =( We tried to get some food in her asap but she wasnt that interested!

Overall surgery went really well. She did have fluid in her ear drum and so they did put the tubes in. Her ear canals are super tiny which is pretty common with Down Syndrome kids so it took a little longer than usual. I am glad that we got it over with and didnt have to go through multiple ear aches to finally put the tubes in anyway! I knew this was a really stong possiblity anyway and I am glad we were able to take care of it so early. I did not want it to affect her hearing, speech, and any thing else that could cause more diffiulty in her development. She recovered well and was back to herself after a 3 hour nap this morning! I'm hoping to see more improvements with her development everyday!

She is such a doll!!! Tubes were a HUGE blessing in our house with Steadman. Hope they can do their job and you don't have to deal with it anymore.
